What is

the exact name of the picture and what is the path of the folder you put it in?

when i first downloaded the

when i first downloaded the portable apps beta 1.1 menu i read the information under it and it said to name it portableapps_wallpaper.bmp, which i did, and to put it in the pictures files for the menu, which i also did
but that didnt work, so i looked in the forums alittle later, like last weekish, and tried a couple other names and locations
these didnt seem to work either

mod means modified ...

as there are a couple of version of the menus to run the portable apps found here.

The process I was describing was the one for the main design, the PortableApps.com Menu, not the R31 vesrion or ... I can't recall any other mods. But anyways, the mods have their own process.

If you click on the Help

If you click on the Help button in the menu then click About, what does it tell you?

May not be genuine bmp image

I have a suspicion that you are using a jpg image that is just renamed to a bmp image.

You need to enable file extensions to find out for sure.
To do this...
Click -Start-
Click -My Computer-
Click -Tools-
Click -Folder Options-
Click the Tab that says "View"
Scroll down just a little, and REMOVE the 'check mark' in the box that is labeled "Hide extensions for known file types"
Click -Apply-
Click -OK-

Now... Navigate to x:\Documents\Pictures
If you see that the name of your wallpaper file is: portableapps_wallpaper.bmp.JPG
then your image is NOT formatted correctly.

You then need to open that image in MS Paint, or any image editor and click -File- -Save As...-
In the [Save as type] field, click the drop down menu and choose "24-bit Bitmap (*.bmp;*.dib)"
Then click -Save-

Then try re-opening the Portable Apps Menu, and see if the wallpaper now shows up....

Good Luck! :c)
