Changed program settings are not saved

Hi,

I'm not being able to customize the program settings of Firefox Portable (2.0.0.14).

Even changing the default startup homepage (I normally disable that and choose "Show a blank page"), is not being saved.

Anything I change is lost when I close the program, is this the expected behavior?

Regards,
Ricardo

This is not the expected

This is not the expected behavior. Can you provide us a bit more information, it may help us diagnose your issue.

What is the path to FirefoxPortable.exe, is it the standard "X:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable" or is it a nonstandard path?

Are you using the PortableApps.com Menu?

Are you running FirefoxPortable.exe, or the firefox.exe contained in the portable package?

What operating system are you using?

Hi, I'm using Windows XP SP3

Hi,

I'm using Windows XP SP3 with the standard path.

In the meanwhile I think I now what is the problem, I'm using the "FirefoxPortable.ini" so that I'm able to use Firefox running from a CD with the following parameters (none of them were customized):

[FirefoxPortable]
FirefoxDirectory=App\firefox
ProfileDirectory=Data\profile
PluginsDirectory=Data\plugins
SettingsDirectory=Data\settings
FirefoxExecutable=firefox.exe
AdditionalParameters=
LocalHomepage=
DisableSplashScreen=false
DisableIntelligentStart=false
AllowMultipleInstances=false
SkipChromeFix=false
SkipCompregFix=false
WaitForFirefox=false
RunLocally=true

If I rename or delete this file it works, so I'm not sure how to solve this because I'd like to keep this file, I use PortableApps from several media (hard disk, external disk, USB, CD, DVD), is there something that needs to be changed in this file?

Regards,
Ricardo

By Design

This is by design. The RunLocally setting is only meant to be used from CD. It copies both your Firefox and your profile directories locally, runs them and then deletes them.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
