No worries, Steve! Smile

I'm on my 'nix box right now, but when I switch to my XP box I'll give it a whirl.

2.1?

Talking of 'nix is any one interested in a Mac and/or Linux port. It would be pretty simple to do!

Hmmmmmm....

Hmmmmmm.... Consternation!

"This application has failed to start because mt7r15.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

A google search for this dll and its purpose yielded NOTHING (AHHH!!! Google has failed. 'tis the end of the world.), As did a hard drive search.

Are you using any runtimes or libraries that we should know of/have?

Is this problem occuring for anyone else?

Methinks I'll examine his source code. I've been learning C++.

Ooops

Sorry, that was a complier problem, you can now get a package called dll_bundle from the same place, unzip that into your directory and try it out.

The good news:

The good news:

VERY aesthetically pleasing. Easy to figure out for new people.
Clean interface.

The Bad News.

There should be an option to overwrite old files. When updating an old prof (local) from recent prof (portable), it threw up errors.

Error Messages:

http://img470.imageshack.us/img470/5197/sync2rc1error10ob.jpg

http://img470.imageshack.us/img470/5010/sync2rc1error29gs.jpg

http://img367.imageshack.us/img367/159/sync2rc1error2details8ho.jpg

It seems It won't overwrite. Maybe a force overwrite checkbox?

Tiny bit of incompleteness (window title)

I'll try it with Firefox and get back to ya.

2 Minutes later Edit: I get similar errors with FF, that are only different in profile file/folder info in the detailed error message.

EDIT #2: Will try caching option in a little bit and report back. I have to make a test profile in PFF and local FF. (Same for TB and PTB)

EDIT #3: Anyone know a good profile management extension? Anywhos, same messages, I guess I'll try with empty destination profiles.

FINAL EDIT: Worked with empty destination (completely empty, no files in profile folder, with default prof it threw up errors still.), even though it still threw up that error number 1, the prefs.js error in the first screenie above.

OK thanks, the first message

OK thanks, the first message is a message box I left in, don't worry about that. As for all of the overwrite stuff I'll add a check box, easy to fix. What about if I also added an option to empty the destination folder before the operation?
I'm glad you like the interface. As for the title, I'm not sure whats wrong there that caption is set to Sync, but I think it should be an easy fix. I'll put out a new release later/tomorrow.

Okies. good to know the

Okies. good to know the prefs.js message was no big deal.

Yeah, either overwrite or empty destination sound good. I like redundancy, and would do both myself. But I'm OC. Blum

Keep up the good work! I look forward to the next one to test.
If you can think of any other ways to test it, ket me know and I'll try.
And you're proly going to do it already, but I'd include those dll's in the main release.

Do you want this tested under 'nix with wine? I dual boot XP Pro and Ubuntu 5.10 on this machine (albeit with a slightly tweaked kernel), and I have Fedora Core 5 and SUSE Dual booting on the machine in the basement. (My household file server(Fedora)/testbed and Playtoy(SUSE).

A test under 'nix would be good, I might do a proper 'nix release with the update, depends on how muh time I have. Glad you like it all.

Alrighty, I figure my mouse

Alrighty, I figure my mouse batteries have about a half hour left. heheh

I'll boot into ubuntu while I still have a mouse. After that, It's time to find some batteries.

EDIT: Ooops! I haven't really looked at a 'nix FF profile. Is it the same structure? I know the location, but is the profile writen the same way? (folder structure, file locations, SAME FILES? @@). I'll try a portable to portable transfer and have a look at the profile structure. Luckily I have FF v1.5.0.3 on ubuntu, which was a bit of a problem to figure out how to get (found a tut on a wiki posting), as it comes with v1.0.8 and the repositories I checked with synaptic only had that and v1.0.4.

Live from ubuntu

Live from ubuntu v5.10...

Portable to portable doesn't seem to work. Error saying that it can not open configuration file. Minor graphical issues. (might be solved by playing around with my theme). Took me a minute to find the folders on my portable. The choose location dialog is wierd. It reads my root as a drive letter, but not c, and c is full of unknown stuff. Drive z was my nix root, and I had to find my portable under the media folder.

Conclusion:

It would probably be a good idea to do a nix port if you can. It runs the app, but does not perform the operation. It seems it can not read or find the ini file in the settings folder.

Same problems. Overwrite

Same problems.

Overwrite doesn't seem to work. I still get error from screenie 2, with details the same as screenie 3. (see above post)

Oh, yeah, the window title is still the same. Wink

Changes

In RC3 I have moved to a completely sizer based layout and have cleaned up the code so it will be easier to read. I have also added a catagory editor. I'll release it tomorrow.

Oh, and

Since the layout is based on the size, can we have a maximize button?
The [Help] button should be help and have an about button as well. I can write the help for you if you want. Or maybe it could open up the Libertà Handbook.
I you click the Sync button without specifying paths, it tries anyway and then crashes. Could you fix that?

Hey, Steve! RC3 Worked

Hey, Steve! RC3 Worked Great in several situations. I tried it with virgin profiles on new copies of FF & PFF and TB & PTB with overwrite and removal of existing files. No errors! Congratz, man I think you hit a winner! I'm looking forward to trying Backup v2!
