So I'm not real sure what OS this is but I would like to know how the links on the desktop came to be.

Well First of all it's Windows XP using a custom style (probably style xp or some other product) and secondly it's probably done by default by the theme that person is using

as I remember, it's a vista feature, not sure about xp.
Insert original signature here with Greasemonkey Script.
there is some software out there to allow those links on the desktop. maybe Window Blinds or something like it.

Active Desktop?

MS stopped using the "Active Desktop" function in Win2k Pro, notice that you dont ever get the "To use this, Active Desktop must be enabled. Do you want to enable Active Desktop now (Y/N)" notification anymore, and i also dont think that XP has integrated features like that so it is definately XP with 3rd party soft installed.

Maybe Object Desktop is what OliverK meant? It is by the same people who do WindowBlinds.

most likely that, thogh i dont know if OD or WB support that desktop linky feature. also, are we totally sure that thoes links work and arent just text on the BKND?

I'm inclined to agree with Zach. It's definitely Windows XP (judging by the icons in the tray). I'm not so sure as to how this person put the links on the desktop like that.

yup it's a visual style thing and secondly I thanks siler he was correct about it being window blinds (I meant that instead of Style XP)

Right click on My Computer at the bottom and the select Properties.
no, see the problem is that its not my desktop; its a pic i found that interests me
Yeah, I'm the quiet one....
Where's the deviantART page you found it on? Or did you just find it with Google or from a link?
i uploaded a copy to DA after i couldn't find the original to ask the owner
Yeah, I'm the quiet one....
I see then.
it looks like the user hid all desktop icons and used Samurize to add the (text) links back to folders, recycle bin, etc... (along with a custom XP theme of course).
and i havent installed it but the descriptions make it seem like the program used is most likely Samurize. from th descriptions it seems like Samurize is most likely what we are dealing with.

It looks like windows Xp. You can tell by the windows logo on the start button. It is XP style and not vista style. It is also probably using a Windows Blinds theme. Whoever it belongs to, it is probably infested with viruses since it has limewire installed on it. It is also interesting that the screen shot was taken at 4:20 in the morning. Either the time is wrong or someone couldn't sleep.

lol. i like the look of it though. except zune is easier to install then custom themes
But there’s no sense crying over every mistake,
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
