Music tends to be

Music tends to be interrupted a lot with coolplayer when system resources are low. XMPlay doesn't do this much.

New version

The last version of Xmplay stores its config in an .ini file (previously it used the windows registry).

So now it is a true portable app, and a great one!

Plays module audio files

Plays module audio files like umx too. It was nice to hear the background music from Unreal. It's great for portability because it's not a giant program with tons of useless features.

Irfanview is my favorite because it loads up quick and many hotkeys.

Winamp Classic

If you get Winamp Classic, also known as the Lite version, you can run it as a portable application and not have any troubles. It's available here.

there are some glitches with registry settings if Winamp is installed on a computer. For example winamp from portable drive can associate files if computer's winamp have enabled option to retake assocation everytime it's run

I also use Winamp anyway Smile but also Foobar from time to time

There's a way around that...

You can install a winamp version expressly for the purpose of makinging it portable, and during install, uncheck the option for installing the 'Winamp Agent'. then go into PWamp's options and select 'None' for all file associations. Done!

Also, what is this myth going around that you can only make the 'lite' version portable? Biggrin I've just done a 'standard' install, media library and skin support included. Then I upxed the whole deal, and got it down to about 4.5 MB, which is, I might add, about 2MB smaller than the 'lite' install. 8) Although, I'll only put one extra skin in the directory at a time...
