Hi, I recently started a webpage at http://darf.ianweller.org/~halosghost/ And I wanted to list PortableApps.com as one of my affiliates. So I created an affiliate button. It uses the PAM logo, but all credit goes to you guys, and I'm only using it to give you guys a little more publicity. Stop by, and tell me if it's okay to use. If it isn't, can you guys post an official affiliate button?

I like em... especially the bottom ones, but if we can get PortableApps.com on em, cool. I did these mockups (in like 60 seconds, so they kinda suck):

Perhaps a couple with the logo in the BG faded and the full site name. A couple that say either "Get Portable" or "Go Portable" or something. And similar ones in German

I like the small ones too. But having various versions isnt bad because then people can choose what fits their site best.
I like the ones withj PortableApps and don't think they MUST be only PortableApps.com/ But maybe not all caps because its easier to read and seperates the words Portable and Apps.
I think "Get Portable" and / or "Go Portable" can also be some but yet I fail to see the obsession with German
(I'm sure they understand "Go Portable". (And thinking about "Gehe Portable" or "Ga Portable" (Dutch) is... well...
I think that we should collect a large collection of Buttons/Banners and information for linking ASAP to make it possible for the people to link back in style.
PS. sometimes I try things and it takes an hour and I come up with nothing, and on other days I reach the exact same result in 10 minutes.. So I guess the mockups made in 60 seconds, would maybe not look twice as good if you had spend 120 seconds
We'd do em in multiple languages (Italian, French, etc) when we bring other languages online on our site. German is our 2nd most popular, so we're doing that first. And MrE speaks German, which is why I suggested it.

The Buttons from your second post kick ass. do you have a link on your homepage to download them individually so I can start using what I am going to call the official ones?

Right, so, I've updated the button I'm using on my site, background image comes from one of NeoRame's Buttons, I just replaced the text. tell me what you think.

I'm confused. Is it a requirement to have "PortableApps.com" on them. I'm not sure that will fit and be able to be read. Plus, Mine currently says, "PortableApps" and links to the homepage of this site. Would that still be okay, or do I need to rework it?
it should say PortableApps.com, because PortableApps.com is the official brand name for our project. Just using "PortableApps" as the text could make your button seem too generic. Even if the link pointed specifically to this site, without the .com in the text, it could be interpreted as any set of applications that have been made portable.

Well, I'm good with whatever, if you guys want all the text, thats fine, if not, thats fine too. I do have one question though... Should I start work on the other sizes (i.e. how Firefox has like 20 different versions of all different shapes and sizes), or should I wait until we think this one is perfect?
In my opinion, i'd start with a high-quality larger banner, and work down to smaller sizes.

Do you have a specific size in mind? 468x60 maybe? or full-sized 800x128? I'm good with anything, but I need to know what sizes you guys will want.
i really didnt have any particular size in mind. go with whatever you feels makes most sense for a banner or button.

Looks pretty good, but the curved parts of the red are pretty pixellated. What program are you using for your artwork?

I've tried Gimp, but I'm too used to photoshop to make a comfortable switch. I tried to clean up the edges, but I know they don't look great. these are still just promo buttons though. Nothing final, so I'll be working on cleaning up the edges mostly. Anything else I should do/fix?
For the largest banner/button, and the smaller ones if possible, make the "PortableApps.com" bold. This next suggestion isn't as important, and not at all necessary, but maybe make a preview version that uses the "small caps" font setting for "PortableApps.com" like the top banner on our site.

They really look nice. I think the "Your digital Life, anywhere" could have a "™" and the anywhere could be italic to be more like this sites header.

Right, Small caps the non-capitalized characters, embolden "PortableApps.com", italicize "Anywhere", add a TM symbol at the end of, "Your Digital Life, Anywhere", and work on the smoothness of the edges on the two new promo buttons. Got it.
I'll edit this post when I have that done. Any other suggestions for the PA.com Promo Affiliate Buttons?

Okay, I did a little with the edges, and they look all around, much better, though a little fuzzier. I also did all the suggestions for the Text effects. Links in last post are now up-to-date. Any other suggestions/ideas/general feed-back is always appreciated.
