Needs Help - Portable Apps Totally Not Working!!!

I'm a new person here, and my creation of this account is to mainly seek help from the forums about my problem here. I have used PortableApps for 2 days already, and so far, I am impressed with it. I first used PortableApps on a computer which is not mine, where I downloaded the basic suite of PortableApps. I then went home and started downloading apps to fill it in. This morning, I also downloaded more and more apps and switched off my computer just a few hours ago. Now, when I try to open PortableApps, I go into my thumbdrive and double-click the Start PortableApps.exe icon. But, nothing happens. Not even the icon that is supposed to show somewhere at the taskbar near the bottom right. I'm not sure what happened, but I can confirm that I do not have a slow drive or computer, I also did some checking with My Task Manager, and also tried rebooting but it's the same old story. Although, there is one reason that could have been the fault. I might have forgotten to safely eject the thumbdrive from my home computer. MIGHT! (Sorry, my memory isn't that good.) But, I might have safely ejected it but I do know that I left it in the USB port during the shutdown. If the problem cannot be solved, I have thought out a solution but I'm not sure if it would work. If you guys can't think of the reason why my PortableApps has problems, would you be able to confirm with me if my solution would work? I was thinking of copying all my documents and apps into my computer. Then I will delete PortableApps directly. After that, I will download the basic suite of PortableApps again and then move all the documents and apps back again. Would this work? I thank you in advance for your help.

Well...

The first thing that comes to my mind is that the unsafe ejection might have caused your problem. So I suggest that you reinstall the Platform and try again.
Is it only the Platform that isnt working or do you have problems with specific Applications too?

Of course you can copy all the stuff to your Computer and start from scratch but often you dont have to do that and its enough to just reinstall.

Oh and welcom to PortableApps.com Smile

Thanks

According to what you said, I've fixed it already... But the problem now, is that, before I did the reinstallation, (when the before problem was still there), I tried executing the applications directly from their files, they didn't work either. And when I was reinstalling PortableApps, I copied all the apps I had then to my computer, and then i reinstalled PortableApps, and placed the apps back in.. Then continuing to add more apps that I need. But now, when I tried executing some of the older apps that was added before the FIRST problem started, They don't start. I've tried doing some stuff with the .ini file, or moving it around, (I know it's only an example of the real one, but they said it would work in the right place) but it doesn't fix the problem. Someone please guide me onto refixing these older apps, one of them is OpenOffice which is big to download and install, taking up time. Someone help. Thanks

The only thing

I can think of is the same as above: reinstall.
For the smaller Apps it wont be a big issue, but I uderstand that reinstalling OpenOffice is a time-consuming operation. But I dont know of any alternative.
I always reinstall all my Apps after I moved them from one place to another just to make sure.

Reinstall to be Sure

When you do an unsafe eject, you can wind up with corrupted bits all over your drive. To ensure all is ok, I'd suggest checking your drive for errors before proceeding (the usual in Windows Explorer: right-click the drive, properties, tools, check now). Then reinstall each app that's having issues over itself. If your data files are there and intact, they'll be kept and still work. If any are corrupt, the individual program will handle it if it can.

Big Thanks to everyone.

Thank you all. Since, there is no alternative solution to my apps, I will reinstall them again, though how much the time it takes. See ya around.
