Greetings to the forum.
Unfortunately, I can't get the "Warn me when closing multiple tabs" option to work in Firefox 3.0. I opened two tabs for testing and tried both start options of "show my home page" and "show my windows and tabs from last time" with the same result: closing Firefvox does not produce a warning that I am closing multiple tabs. Can someone please help?
Thank you.
Craig
In the Firefox 3 menus, go to 'Tools' - 'Options' and on the 'Tabs' tab of the dialog, check to see if the 'Warn of closing...' is checked. It works for me.
Good suggestion. I did check this option, and the checkbox is in fact checked.

I am also experiencing the problem with this option. It worked -- more or less randomly -- when I was trying a different theme (don't remember which), but won't work on the default, or any themes I've tried. And the box is checked...

doesn´t work in both local and portable FF, could be a bug ..

After lots and lots of experimentation, here's what I have been able to determine.
If I have several tabs set, and if I open them in the same window, I do not get the warning that I am closing "X" tabs when I try to shut down Firefox. However, if I have opened tabs in more than one window, the "Warn me when closing multiple tabs" works as expected. Can anyone corroborate these findings? I have checked the options under "about:config," and they all appear to be set so that a warning should be issued whenever Firevox is closed. I have Firefox starting up on the home pages I have set; that is, it does not start up remembering the tabs and windows from a previous session.

Just wanted to add my "me too" to this. Default theme, and checkbox checked.
Hoped the problem would go away when upgrading from 3.0 to 3.0.1, but it didn't.
I found that even if you have selected the "Warn me when closing multiple tabs" under the Tools/ Options/ Tab, if you go to the Options/ Main Tab/ Startup Section/ When Firefox Starts and select "Show my home page" that's when you see the Quit Firefox "Do you want Firefox to save your tabs for the next time it starts?" prompt.
If "Show my windows and tabs from the last time" is selected instead, the browser closes without any warnings. Don't know if this is a bug or something intended by the Mozilla developers but this workaround works for me.
That sounds like a feature. Since you're telling it to load what you had last time, there's no need to warn you you're closing multiple tabs (since it's already set to remember them for you and show them to you when you launch it again). Make sense?

Makes sense to me
Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?
I thought that under Private Data/ Settings, the Browsing History was checked by default, however, I have tweaked the settings so much and because the PortableApps updates preserves the data, I forgot that it was I who told Firefox to "Always clear my private data when I close Firefox." Perhaps the same tweaks have been perfomed by the above posters and that's why they don't see the prompt.
If the only purpose was not to lose the tabs, maybe it would make sense. But it is a protection from closing the application when the user meant to just close one tab (it did work that way with FFx2). It sounds like the general consensus is that it's a FFx bug, not a PA FFx bug.

It sounds like a design decision that some people disagree with (feature vs bug). It makes sense to me: there's no reason to warn about closing Firefox because you can just open it back up to where you were again. But it seems like it bothers some others.

The point is though is that it does the same thing even if you have the Session Restore/Undo Close Tab Feature turned off which means that it isn't able to open back up the same tabs. The only way you get the warning about closing multiple tabs is if you try to close a window with multiple open tabs when you have more than 1 window open. This is for both FFP3 and FF3.
im havng the same proglem now.. anyone can help ???
It seems more or less random whether it will ask me to save session when closing multiple tabs, regardless of how many I have open. I just installed a session save add-on but I wouldn't use this feature for the portable version anyway.
