Skype for U3

I had a question for John and other PA developers that do work for U3 applications as well. I noticed that U3 hasn't updated its Skype version in a long time and was wondering if you knew anything from other U3 developers regarding it being updated. I was just curious if they were dropping support for it or just haven't gotten around to doing the update. It's currently at 3.5 with the current Skype version being 3.8.

At any rate, this is a very off-the-wall question so whenever you have a free moment or two it would be great to hear something from you. As always, please keep up the great work with PortableApps. I enjoy a lot of them and appreciate the time you (and other developers) take to make them happen.

John was the only U3 dev

but I know that he dropped support for U3 some time ago so I doubt he knows the answer for your question.

But searched for U3 on the Skype webpage and found this: http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=108902

Hope it helps.

Thanks anyways ...

Hey,

Thanks for the feedback as I really do appreciate your help. I went to the forum link and looked at the download someone there had posted which they claimed was the latest version of Skype. Perhaps it was a long time ago, but it's since changed and nobody seems to have posted anything on that forum.

I fired off an email to U3 in hopes of perhaps getting an answer (though I am not holding my breathe.) It is a sad shame that licensing makes for such trouble with some really great apps sometimes. I am sure under different circumstances Skype would be very popular and listed among the main applications from PortableApps developers.

Thanks for trying to help!
