There's a reason faster-fox

There's a reason faster-fox was moved into the Addons.mozilla.org sandbox...

It's not really one of those extensions that can kill your speed or make it faster. Treat it like steroids. Avoid it unless you like high risks.

FasterFox extension

I realize that faster-fox is experimental but I have real good luck with the extension using Firefox version 2.0015 installed on a Vista Machine. I found that when using the extension, using a Sandisk USB drive (XP machine)I didn't get as many slowdowns or bottlenecks during page loads after I installed it.

The biggest problem I see with 'new' USB drives, with any version of Firefox is that they have problems with USB version 1.1 when it comes to bottlenecks with RAM.

As far as i can tell this is

As far as i can tell this is not a seperate program itself. It is also not a Portable Only add-on.

Extensions are De-Facto Portable

All extensions are de-facto portable in Firefox, and other Mozilla-based browsers and programs.

De-Facto Portable

You are 100 correct with all Firefox extensions and themes working with portable apps versions of the version 3 browser.

Actually...

Most extensions are de-facto portable, but there are some (for example Video Downloader) that save settings outside the profile folder (don't have an idea why), and if lucky, the extension has an option that allows us to change where to save stuff (fortunately Video Downloader has it, even though I don't use it anymore).

So lets say instead that 99.99% of extensions are de-facto portable Wink

Blue is everything.

John,

Greeting, and Welcome to PortableApps.com

A discussion is occurring elsewhere as to whither or not your post is appropriate.
Questions about self promotion and the like.
I will leave it to one of the Developer/Moderators to make that decision.
Resolved after consult

In the meantime, I ask that you follow the direction of David and remove the link from your signature
Resolved
[It does not work with javascript disabled by the way, maybe it doesn't work w/ javascript turn on, not gonna try it myself]

I have obfuscated your email address for you own safety.

I am sure some folks will appreciate your efforts to update an Add-On for FF3,
[but as mentioned this might not be the appropriate place to promote it. Others can make that decision].
Resolved after consult

If you have made significant changes to the Add-On you might want to release it at Mozilla under a different name, giving due credit to the original creator [who seems to have abandoned the project ???]

Also, I cannot recommend the downloading of files from an unknown source.
Unfortunately, as you have been a member for only 12 hours, you are an unknown source Sad

Perhaps you could tell us something about yourself, your experience in making Add-Ons, and the changes you have made to the Add-On in question. Smile

Again, Welcome to PortableApps.com

(Noted, and I will change my sig, and won't use a link]

[ Will remove link as soon as I finish with this post]

[ Okay thanks for the safety factor, but the email address goes to a spam trap
that blocks 100 percent of incoming email, unless white-listed. I do a lot with
shutting down phishing scams, so I know the security risks with incoming emails]

[I do a lot of testing of Firefox extensions with both Firefox version two and
three. Fasterfox is one of my favorites to play around with :--) ]

[Okay !]

Also, I cannot recommend the downloading of files from an unknown source.
Unfortunately, as you have been a member for only 12 hours, you are an unknown source Sad

[Yes , I am new here, but I have installed a few programs off this site, including
firefox version 3 onto a San Disk USB drive. If you look at my domain name WHOIS
then I won't be unknown, right]

Perhaps you could tell us something about yourself, your experience in making Add-Ons, and the changes you have made to the Add-On in question. Smile

[Okay, that's very good advice, thanks !]

Again, Welcome to PortableApps.com
