Hi all,
I have the PortableApps suite and use them travelling. Great stuff.
I'm also a pilot and there's a flight planning application it would be great to have portable. Likewise with a diving application that calculates decompression times, etc. I have a licence & paid-up keys for them.
How can I get them packaged to be portable / who can I ask to see if they can be made portable.
There won't be much demand for them, so I'm willing to pay if its not going to cost an arm & a leg.
Any advice appreciated.
Regards,
John

the Portable App Creator (in the development forum) would be of interest.

You have a couple options to get this portable. The first is to learn a language yourself called NSIS. It's a pretty basic language and is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. The basic concept is to move the setting files that need to be stored in special places that are not on the flash drive to the hard drive on run and then back to the flash drive on exit. The other is maybe convincing a dev to do it for you. If you decide to learn NSIS you could post any questions you have in the App Development forum or ask them online at irc.freenode.net channel #portableapps. Programs like pidgin on the app download page can create irc accounts if you don't already have an app to do that.

Thanks you both for your helpful suggestions. I'll do both - check out the creator & the dev forum, and have a go with NSIS.

It's always good to have another developer in the forums. There is an unoficial guide to the .paf formats and how to create the launcher but I'm not sure where they are doing a search should bring them up for you. Good luck.
