QuickPort NSIS Template v1.2 released

The Quickport NSIS template is a template to allow the quick portability of a program. By making a few changes and installing NSIS and the included plugins, you can create a portable program out of any program that uses 1 registry key. This script is based on nm35's Portable Notepad2 code and comes complete with the
necessary plugins and program tools (Text Editor and NSIS Compiler).

NEW: Version 1.2 Fixes a bug where the Registry plugin would not close. And fixed the name of the icon file that is used.

More Information with Download Link

To edit the template use any text editor you choose. Try Portable Notepad2 for this. Then use Portable NSIS for the compilation and plugins.

Have fun! Smile

Nice work!
pats self on back Wink

You might want to include Portable NSIS and/or a text editor, to make one easy package (may I suggest Portable Notepad2?).

Thanks for thought....

I didn't think of that, so I added Portable Notepad2 and Portable NSIS for a complete packaged portable template builder.

Working also on template

currently I'm working on an own template which saves multiple Registry keys, configuration files, profile directories.

Maybe you want to use this "mutltiple something" stuff, which I'll realise in a function. As soon I'm finished with it I'll post here.

Template is finished

Hi, I finished the work on the template.

The template contains a lot comments.
This template could take care of multiple registry keys, multiple directories and multiple files. Each alone or all together.

I got the idea from the first poster here.

It could be downloaded here:
http://www.loncarek.de/downloads/PortableApplicationTemplate.zip

Enjoy it.

Just for fun (and testing) I created a NSIS version of Portable Inkscape.

Please do not reply to this post as I'll open a new thread.

Missing Alot

QuickPort is missing a lot of features that are almost required for some applications. In order to make an application portable, you sometimes need more then just a registry wrapper, which is what this implements.

What if the application needs a PATH parameter? What if it saves its settings to My Documents? What if it needs a number of parameters sent to it?

1.2 Released

I know it has been awhile, and this isn't really a big release, just a few bug fixes.
But for those of you that still use this program, I will be looking more at it in the next few weeks, to see what I can do to make it better.

Alss, I know that Portasoft is kinda not be used alot, But I am going to continue to use the site for my hosting of this program, until I see a need for another route.

Thanks, enjoy!

Deuce,

I have heaps of space on my paid hosting and I am moving some of the apps over.
If you want me to host it for you, I can. Drop me an email if you are interested.

Hey Ryan

Portasoft seems to work when I use a proxy but not on any normal internet connection. Do you have a mirror that I could download from
