Thank you for that app !
Works fine and 'handy' ....
I hope it will became a release soon ...
this application is good better than the windows version!! i would like to download the full version when you have finnished it
This is a nice app. I've known about it a while, but never really tried it. Here's what I caught.
Think that's it. Could be more, I dunno, it's late and I haven't slept much this past week.
Patrick!

I've just tested it out on Vista Ultimate SP1, and as far as I can tell it works well and leaves nothing obvious behind
Can you please leave a comment in these threads when you make an update. It makes your changes easier to find and keep track of.
The developer formerly known as ZGitRDun8705
but as the changes were only cosmetic I thought I didnt have to.

Congratulations, this is a good image viewer. It is fast and has a lot of usefull functions - I like it.
Is it much afford to implement a soft fading (optional) in the diashow ?
Simeon didn't write JPEGView, he only wrote the launcher for it and packaged it as a portable app. To request features, or report bugs with the base software, go here and use either the tracker or the forums.

JPEGView has just been updated 1.0.17
The developer formerly known as ZGitRDun8705
Maybe I get it done over the weekend.

Should take 5 minutes at most, only a simple drop in of the new files is needed, though be sure to change StoreToEXEPath=false to StoreToEXEPath=true in JPEGView.ini and put it in DefaultData. That change will ensure that all settings files (the ini and the database file) are stores in the JPEGView directory.
The developer formerly known as ZGitRDun8705
Can this run windowed?
1.0.17 can, it was just released yesterday, it can also be fully portable on it's own if you open the JPEGView.ini file and change StoreToEXEPath=false to StoreToEXEPath=true. This entry forces the program settings ini, and the image processing parameters database to be stored in the same location as the JPEGView.exe

I've been playing with it on and off here today, but so far I haven't had any problems with it in vista ultimate and doesn't leave anything obvious behind
for your constant vista testings.

Did everything work ok?
Its cool that you tested it but having the results would be appreciated even more.

every thing works well, but these Thumbs.db on:
E:\PortableApps\JPEGViewPortable\App\AppInfo
and
E:\PortableApps\JPEGViewPortable\App\jpegview
I LOVE IT! Looks good, but there's a tthumbs.db (not from my pc) in app/appinfo/. It's not hidden or system. Keep up the good work!
There's no place like 127.0.0.1
to the latest 1.0.18. See main post for details.

I can confirm the help.html and appinfo.ini, but I cant find any entry in my registry with JPegView in it except the normal ones (recent files, MRU). I did find the ini file you mentioned too but inside my Application data folder but after deleting it it wasn't recreated.
Does anyone experience the same issues?
I really don't now what the file is and am reluctant to just tell the launcher to delete it...
"What about Love?" - "Overrated. Biochemically no different than eating large quantities of chocolate." - Al Pacino in The Devils Advocate
I found the keys and this file with Regshot Portable. I removed them and launched JPEGView again, but they weren't recreated. Maybe JPEGView creates them only the first time and maybe there are other keys I've missed. If I delete JPEGView Portable, reinstall it to another folder and launch it, it will show the last opened pictures (from the old install). So it seems that some settings are stored in the registry. Or are these informations from recent files, MRU ?
Below are the reg keys/values created the first time:
Perhaps JPEGView is using Cyberlink's codec somehow to do some previewing or something? I think the cyberlink codec is putting those reg entries in. I don't see the same reg entries on my system.
/sylikc
if I delete the data folder and rerun the program, it starts in the same folder as the old install. Weired.
Something else: Does anyone know what to do if the settings ini file in DefaultData is updated? New users wont have a problem cause its copied on first run but ell people who update will have some missing entries in their ini file...
"What about Love?" - "Overrated. Biochemically no different than eating large quantities of chocolate." - Al Pacino in The Devils Advocate
You can try to manually write those entries to the .ini files if they exist?
Usually though if a program has a new setting, doesn't it update the .ini files automatically? (I don't know how this particular app works, obviously.)
this thread is so old that I can't remember.
I guess you're working on an update.
About the ini-file: I think the program takes care of missing entries. If it doesn't, the local installer code discloses the secrets. 8)
He released an update and I use the opportunity to get it to work with PAL.
It comes as a zip file. Guess I have to ask the author and hope he gave it some thoughts.

Nice app to make portable. Easy and quick to use. Single bug: doesn't cut images. If I'm wrong please let me know.
Vic
Thanks. I am glad you like it.
Regarding your bug: I havent made the actual program, I just packaged the portable version. What exactly do you mean by "cut images"? You can crop images by holding down the Ctrl key and then select an area with the left mouse key and have this one cut out and copied to the clipboard or saved as an image.
All the options are outlined in the readme.html inside the JPEGViewPortable/App/JPEGView folder.
"What about Love?" - "Overrated. Biochemically no different than eating large quantities of chocolate." - Al Pacino in The Devils Advocate
I'm a native speaker of Spanish, we usually say "cortar una imagen" - literally 'to cut an image' - that's why I made this mistake. And of course it took some time for me to understand that a missing feature isn't actually a bug. Anyway cropping is a feature any photo program should have, but I didn't really expected this app to have it for it's primarily a photo viewer. Thanks for the info!
PS: Portableapps.com has revolutionized the way I use my thumb drive. I don't have a computer on my own yet so I have all my stuff in my USB memory and in the cloud. Thank you guys for working hard to bring this awesome apps to us!

In your "Release Notes" it says "January 15 2010", but I think you meant 2011.
