Portable Apps Search

Sorry if my topic is a little misleading. I know John makes money off of google adds as well as a google search engine here. Personally I try to use this as much as I can to support the site. However a lot of the time it's just not convienient and I just automatically go up to the little thing in my top right corner as I'm sure many people do. Is it possible to create a button for that search bar? Something simmilar to how we have the search for the forums is it possible to create one for our own google search?

Check this website out:

Check this website out: http://mycroft.mozdev.org/. Then do a search for portableapps.com. It doesn't use start.portableapps.com, but searches like the search bar on pa.com. I don't know if that's what you're looking for, but I use it.

There's no place like 127.0.0.1

Great

Too bad we can't ship FF portable with that addon and that being the default search. We should keep this bumped until John gets back and see if he'll advertise it like he does the lightning and a few other addons I'm sure it'll make him sum extra cash.

Please Don't

Whether that was sarcastic or not, please don't encourage clicking on that ads just to support John. It's not fair to the advertisers, and it would certainly be frowned upon by Google if they saw PortableApps.com was encouraging uninterested users to click the ads just to make some cash. Smile

However

I did read that Google currently isn't doing anything to stop AdWords Click Fraud.
And as for the advertisers, my brother and sister are going crazy for Apple Jacks cereal because of *all* the advertisements online, on TV, and EVEN ON THE PHONE!!!!

Are you serious??

This is a business, it makes money via clicks. Advertizers like clicks, it gives them a change to impress the viewer and maybe make a sale.

Unless you're a lawyer I doubt you're qualified to speak for Google's "frowns". I will give you that Google doesn't like owners and admins of websites hosting their ads superfluously clicking on the ads to increase their payout but I don't think one member advising other members to click counts. But then again, I'm not a lawyer either.

Bad link

The website is not
http://www.start.portableapps.com/
but is actually just
http://start.portableapps.com/
.
The first, which you posted, doesn't work.
