This is new on the addons site for FF. Not much help given but does anyone know if it will sync between local copy and flash drive?

There are a number of Bookmark Syncronizers for FireFox. Most link to a commercial/free site where the master copy of the bookmarks are stored. Some (read few) allow you to store the master copy on your site. I have been using Bookmarks Synchronizer 1.0.x ( https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1989/ ) for over a year and like it. It allows you to put the bookmark file on an FTP server and access it from wherever. It will merge bookmarks along with syncronization. Can be automated, but I run it manually because I am not a trusting fellow, and it does lengthing the startup and shutdown of FF.
Hope this helps

Can I post both the flash drive copy of bookmarks and local copy on the Fox cloud server? Will it do me any good to do this? I'm trying to find a way to sync
the C copy with the portable copy. I like the idea of running it manually as well.
Thanks so much for the reply!!!!

I suspect thet the answer is no, but I am not sure. The file stored on the server is called xbel.xml. If two or more versions need to be stored they will probably have to be kept in different directories. There may be different solutions, I have never investigated the issue.
I keep one copy that I sync to all my machines and the flash drive. Work well for me but YMMV.
Good luck,
Clair
Very cool advice. I made the mistake of loading the extension on my flashdrive
so the copy on the server is not the one I want. After reading, I think I have to send them an e-mail to delete my account. Ideally, I want to load the local copy to the server and then sync it to the flash drive. Do I have to have the extension
loaded on both flash drive and the C copy?
Thanks for the clarification.
Donna
The extension needs to be associated with each copy of FF.
You should be able to upload from the "local" and overwrite the file on the server. Just be careful not to download from the server to the local unless you want the two sets of bookmarks to be merged.
I hope you have backed up your bookmarks as you are going through this learning process.
I'll be offline for the rest of the afternoon.

Clair,
Thanks for all your help. The process is so simple if you just use common sense.
LOL I can't tell you how long and the machinations I've been through concerning
the bookmarks.
I really appreciate your input. I've seen others on here who wanted this info
and hope the new extension will provide help for them too. Install the extension
in both programs but put the copy you want to sync on the server first. Then
install the second copy extension and sync. Manually is an excellent ideaQ
