[FIXED] GIMP Portable leaves a file and two directories behind

Thanks to InCtrl5, do know that while GIMP Portable doesn't leave any traces in the registry like its official counterpart, it does leave these folders behind (keep in mind the portable version does not contain any uninstaller):

%APPDATA%\gtk-2.0
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp\fontconfig

The latter folder goes inside the temp folder, but still.

Can you please make it so those folders are deleted on exit or at least stored within the internal data folder?

Thanks!

me too

While I had not previously known where they came from, I too am running GIMP Portable and have those very same folders. In fact, as 'verification,' I've found that the GIMP Portable splash screen momentarily stalls and says "Looking for data files - Fonts (this may take awhile)" when there is no 'fontconfig' folder, and does not stall when it is present (makes sense).

I am running Vista SP1 and GIMP Portable 2.4.6 (located in "C:\Portable Apps\GIMPPortable").

Thus no "DisableSplashScreen" option

I bet that's why there's no "DisableSplashScreen" option.

Splash

The splash screen is part of GIMP itself and is very useful to gauge startup progress.

Confirmed. Will be addressed

I've confirmed this to be an issue in the current version. This will be addressed in the next release.

Also, for future reference, subjects like "[BUG] GIMP Portable leaves a file and two directories behind" (which I updated yours to) are far more useful than "GIMP Portable is not truly portable" which is not descriptive and can come off as snarky

I've never heard the word

I've never heard the word "snarky" in my life. Anyway, I reported folders so what's the file?

Two Files

Actually, it should be two files. There's one in each of the directories you indicated. I mentioned it because some apps create and leave behind empty directories. Firefox, for instance, creates a couple empty folders locally and the launcher cleans it up when you exit.

Snarky means, essentially, making a snide remark.

gtk-2.0/gtkfilechooser.ini

gtk-2.0/gtkfilechooser.ini 1KB

fontconfig/cache/7d4217675e7d092ce8eace8325aff9ed-mipsel.cache-2 125 KB

is what I have on my system.
