lol
I wonder how many threads this makes?
OO.o 3.0 Beta 2 will be released when it's ready and not before. You should really do a forum search before posting new threads. There are already numerous posts about this.

a bad idea from the moment it was posted
Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?
how come it wasn't retracted? And how come John stopped the updates 3 months ago?

Tim's right. Back when John was trying very very hard (as he still is) to update apps, commonly there will various silly little oversights that would require a re-release. He's still doing fantastic with updates considering the number of apps he has to handle among other things. An update once in a while would be nice, but honestly, we can see progress being made. It may not be as fast as all of us want, but it certainly seems to fast for one man, and that is impressive.
Marko is now in charge of the whole OpenOffice releases.
And I never thought the 24 hour thing was meant for betas...

No good deed shall go unpunished.
I think that there's no point in making beta versions of some programs portable.
It just wastes hard work.
... if it is the beta of a coming major update with a lot of changes it gives us the time to fix the main issues with the new stuff before the final is out.
