Not launching- and other issues . . .

Discussion on IRC failed to lead to any answers, so . . .

I have a couple of projects I'm trying to do

  1. TiLP or TiLP2 Portable
  2. TuxGuitar Portable (sorry Patrick)
  3. Virtual PC Portable

TiLP/TiLP2
Requires
GTK Redirect
&APPDATA% Redirect (I think)
Problems
Doesn't Launch
Help Being Requested:
Could anybody tell me how to get the thing to launch?

TuxGuitar
Requires
%USERPROFILE% Redirect
Problems
Doesn't Launch
(Earlier version didn't accept the redirect)
Help Being Requested:
Could anybody tell me how to get the thing to launch?

Virtual PC Portable
Requires
&APPDATA% Redirect
%MYDOCUMENTS
Admin rights
Problems
not open source. If anybody can explain the whole VMWare thing to me, I'd be happy to take a crack at it.
Doesn't accept the redirects.
When is it acceptable to copy files to the host computer?

Thanks for any and all help you can give me.

Well for 3,

the answer would be if there was no other way...
Number 2 would probably would be that it verifies if the CSIDL is correct as well as the Env Vars so let's push haustin to finish with CSIDL redirection in PortableApps.nsh!
For number 1, did you ask the developers wether or not they were going to implement the current spec to use individual GTK?

Insert original signature here with Greasemonkey Script.

I sent an email today. Boy am I lazy.

I has included a copy for yous to view:

Hello! My name is Oliver Krystal. I am a member/developer with PortableApps.Com.

In our forums, a request was made for a portablized version your TILP. I prefer to provide the most up to date version, so I elected to portablize TILP2.

I have some questions regarding the program however, and perhaps some requests.
I have been unable to get the program to launch via the launcher. Another member of the forums suggested in a post that the program verifies if the CSIDL is correct as well as the Environmental Variables. Is this correct?

Also, I am curious if you are implement the current spec to use individual GTK?

Thank you very much for your time, consideration, and help.

Virtualbox

If you wanted something like VirtualPC, then I would go with Virtualbox, as it's free and OSS.

If you've implemented the right environment variables, then I would try using SetOutPath for the first two.

Know of a compiled version of Virtual Box?

I'm thinking of sending an email, if I get time tonight about that;
Thanks.

TuxGuitar

I'm not sure if this is the best place to comment but anyway. Which version of Tuxguitar are you trying to make portable? There are three different versions. The Java version is much smaller but does not run on portable drives where as the Excelsior Jet version, while it is larger, does. The only problem I'm currently having is that it still saves things like history on the local machine. The next major release of TuxGuitar is going to be written in C++ which will be much smaller and easier to work with than Java. Hope that helps.

I never quite understood signatures
