have you tried an alternative for example uTorrent (http://download.utorrent.com/1.5/utorrent.exe) with Dynamic Torrent Searcher (http://dynamic-torrent-searcher.com/) for finding the file you want

Actually Kazaa Lite is a hacked version without the spyware. However, it's unofficial and Sharman shut them down a while ago, so it's pretty much illegal to link to it, and even if I did, it's nearly impossible to connect because most people using it have since moved on to Gnutella clients.

Also, it's trojans. I never heard of a "trogan." Wink

Shareaza

On that same note, I would really like a portable version of Shareaza that i could use to download single files, and as my Torrent Client. Although uTorrent does work quite well.

Portable Ares

Guys, Ares is portable!

If you install Ares on your PC and than copy the files on a folder on your USB, itstill works!

h ave tried it out myself, although it takes ome time to connect.

But it still does its job!

You can do that with many programs.

Doesn't make it truly portable.
Try reading "What is a portable app?". Focus on the sentence "And when you unplug the device, none of your personal data is left behind."

EVERYTHING on device

Regarding the comment Lurk sent, NO DATA IS LEFT ON THE USED PC.

The My Shared Folder is saved in the same folder that is in the pendrive along with the other Ares data files.

Maybe, but what about settings? How can you be sure it doesn't write to the registry or put stuff in \Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data? Or even \Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data?

You can't leave any stone unturned when it comes to making sure an application is truly portable. Smile

Yes

Which is what I was refering to. On any filesharing app you can change the shared/destination folder(s). It is the "unseen" stuff that you have to watch.
