I have tried to run Firefox portable apps at work -- but can't seem to get it ot work. Other portable apps do work -- but not Firefox? DO you think our network has blocked it somewhow?
Thunderbird works just fine.
Is there any way to get this to work?
Welcome Jeff Hamons to PortableApps.com
First understand that I will not be able to help you with your problem.
I am just asking you some questions so that someone else will have a better chance to help you.
Please give us as much information about what is happening that you can.
What OS and version are you running at work [Windows, XP ...]
Which version of FFP are you using [2.xx, 3.xx]
Are there any error messages?
Does the program not run at all or does it start properly but can't get to any web sites?
Do you know anything about proxies and does your work use them?
and again Welcome to PortableApps.com
Tim
Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?
What OS and version are you running at work [Windows, XP ...] Windows Xp
Which version of FFP are you using [2.xx, 3.xx]2.0.0.14
Are there any error messages? I get the user agreement - I click I accept and then it just goes back to my desktop and never runs.
Does the program not run at all or does it start properly but can't get to any web sites? See above.
Do you know anything about proxies and does your work use them? I don't know much about proxies and if the use them -- I would guess they don't. It is a very large school district.
My girlfriend has the same problem. She works as a receptionist at a big company.
They use Windows XP and I have installed the latest FFP and Thunderbird. I tried them at home on 2 computers (Vista and XP) and they work like a charm.
When she's at work, both FFP and Thunderbird start up like normal but FFP can't find any websites and Thunderbird (which has been preconfigured on my computer (also webmail is installed)) won't load e-mails and gives an error.
I really can't figure out what could went wrong...perhaps the proxies, but I don't know much about them.
Best regards and thanks in advance,

as it doesnt even run, maybe:
your install is broken -> reinstall and try again and/or
Firefox is not allowed to run -> rename the exe as outlined in the Readme in FirefoxPortable\Other\Source
Hope that helps.

never mind, I found the answer on the forum.
I had to set the proxy to automatically detect. now it works perfect.
