20 gig portable hard drive

hi I have just brought a 20gig hard drive and was just wondering if PA would be the best thing to put on it.

i have been using PA on my 2gig flash drive, i am use to it and think it is a wonderful program.

I just want to know if there is a better application more suited to portable hard drives than PA so can you help me out. i have not really found out any good sites for help.

i got my portable hd from a Chinese distributor and it did come with a software version. only thing is that it wont work because it is a Chinese version and i can t install it. if i could it would be no help to me because i can t understand Chinese anyway.

i am in contact with the manufacture of the product and am waiting for a response from them on there program.

I am getting sick of waiting for a few weeks and not hearing back.

device: portable hard drive
brand: newman / mewsmy
type/product: MiniCard
Model: nm-0703
Capacity: 20G
Interface: USB 2.0

Yes

First of all, you are in the PortableApps.com Forums, so what do you expect other than people saying: "Yes, use it!"? Wink

But in addition to that, I think if you already know, use, like and are used to Portable Apps then it is definitively a good if not the best way to go.

Just my 2 cents.

Using PAM on a 160gig drive

I'm using the R34 Mod of the PortableApps.com Menu (can be found here in the forums, but without official support) on my 160gig drive. Since I have a large number of applications and don't use True Crypt (SmithTech's Mod is aimed at those users), the R34 Mod's ability to add non-PAF application, categorize & group apps in submenus, and change the display order of the menu items was important to me. The moment the official menu version adds these functions, I'll be be back to the supported version.
The size of the drive is not the issue; the number of apps you have is more the problem. The more applications, the longer the menu takes to start up initially and the more scrolling you will have to do to find the apps you are looking for. If the bulk of the space used is for documents, pictures, and other data, you should have no problems with the official version.

WoW

Thanks will look into that.

as portable mem sticks/hard drives are becoming bigger then an app like this should become more useful and i guess that they will eventually support amn app like this one.

will let you know what i think. after i have tested it.

PortableApps cam be used on any sized flash drive 128mb and up. (maybe less) So go ahead, use it on your 20GB hard drive. Smile

ASuite is my favourite launcher. Especially good for a large amount of apps.

The menu can both look like PStart/WinPenPack and the PortableApps.com launcher.
