Flash plugin for Firefox3

I've followed the post on firefox3 installation and it worked perfectly.

However, I can't seem to get the flash plugin (or the shockwave) to install?

When I run it as an exe file, it installs to the firefox on the hard disk, but not to the the portable app. There doesn't seem to be a way of telling the installer where to find the portable firefox.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
GF.

Thanks! I did first search,

Thanks! I did first search, but I guess didn't look hard enough at the results! Is it possible to put this hint on the Firefox support link or FAQ? Then everyone would come to it directly?

Also, does this trick work for all plugins?

Thanks! Portable Apps are great!

Ciao,
GF.

Your Welcome

No, This does not work for most plugins?

It only works with flash because flash is small and self contained.
Most plugins access the main program of the host machine.

It doesn't work for me

I've copied NPSWF32.dll and flashplayer.xpt to FFP3\Data\plugins. Process Explorer shows that NPSWF32.dll are used by firefox.exe, but websites with flash don't work and require flash player installation.

Please, help Sad

It has been suggested that

It has been suggested that things might be different with FF3

Could you try putting the 2 files in:
FirefoxPortable\App\firefox\plugins

See if that works.
If not try also putting

flashplayer.xpt
FirefoxPortable\App\firefox\components

instead.

The original method is working for me and the OP in FF3, so I'm not sure if this will help but it couldn't hurt to try. Let us know what happens.

Thank you, Tim :-) I've tried

Thank you, Tim Smile

I've tried to copy 2 files in FirefoxPortable\App\firefox\plugins and flashplayer.xpt in FirefoxPortable\App\firefox\components. It gives nothing.

However, I've noticed that not all websites don't work. More truly, the majority except for the some websites (e.g. youtube.com) works.

So the problem basically is solved Smile I'll simply not use some sites.
