Downloaded and started FF3 Portable the other day...no problems. This morning, when I try to start it up, I get the PortableApps/FF3 splash screen, and then the Crash Reporter. Details of the crash are:

I'm using a Cruzer Micro 4GB with Windows XP. FF3 Portable worked fine for the past couple days. I disables the incompatible add-ons, updated the add-ons I had, and life was good. Today, I'm stuck with IE.
I've tried completely removing FF3 from my flash drive and making a clean re-install. After the new install, same problem.
I searched for "firefox 3 crashes" and most of the posts instructed me to disable Google Desktop Search, make sure my firewall and AV software was allowing FF3, etc. I've done all of that, but no luck.
Any thoughts?

I had the same error, with similar details. It had been working on other computers but then failed when I switched to a new computer. I got it working with a reinstall so i'm not sure what happened as I still have all the same add-ons.
I occasionally have filesystem errors with my drive as I go between computers, even with "safe" removal of drive. I suspect a critical file ended up on a bad spot in the memory.
Maybe your drive has some errors in it. That is my only input.
It would be nice if there was a way of starting FFP in safe mode... anybody?
Go to a command/dos prompt
cd to the
firefoxportable directory.
type:
firefoxportable.exe -safe-mode

Urgent help needed i was installing add-ons into firefox then the main PA crashed.
Why/How did PA crash when installing add-ons i will never know. it seemed strange. although my dial-up did timeout and log off. (it does that and it is annoying i am on to my ISP about it waiting for responce. please do not turn this into a get Broadband debate. I use dial-up for my own reasons).
(can i recover it in any way. i have no backup of the system. except the orig install for all apps i had.)
is there a recovery tool :)for PA or do i have to start again

there is an edit tab near the top
and continue your request for help there, being clear as to what crashed and how (FF or the PAM).
John, has suggested you start by checking your drive for errors.
Good luck,
Tim
