Please DO NOT joke, on these forums, we have an off topic forum for that kind of stuff,anything posted on these forums is taken seriously and posting, this kind of thing here, and making the users post. this is a ban-able offense. Joking is fine, but it's best to be clear about it... like by adding a smilie. Remember, people can't hear tone of voice. We make silly jokes in regular topics on here quite regularly.

I just found it kinda wrong and annoying for a brand new user to sign up, just to joke, with now signs of it at all, and not even in the Off Topic forum where it would be expected.
To me, as well as probably most people, Any request in this forums, would be taken seriously, and that it would be treated as a real request, unless they specifically say it's a joke, Sorry for seeming a little ticked off in my second post, but If you want to Joke, please make it clear, in the original post.

Audacity is a good solid app for recording and editing.
There's also Traverso, which is open source, Kristal, which is freeware, and Reaper, which is unlimited shareware.
Ardour looks cool, but it's Linux only.
Mixcraft is commercial, even if reasonably priced.
