Firefox Firewalls

Could someone please help me. I have been able to download 'winzip' and 'winrar' files whilst in work for the last 6 months, now all of a sudden the IT dept have noticed and stopped any files larger than 10mb from being downloaded. A friend of mine advised that if I were to run Firefox portable on my usb drive that this should bypass the 10mb firewall rule, I have tried doing this and everything goes fine until I try connecting to the internet when running Firefox of my USB key, it keeps timing out, are there any other solutions I could use. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Pearce.

I doubt it

It depends on you IT dept, but I don't think you can. There are enough things the It guys can do to prevent Firefox Portable from running. So I think you're out of luck.

I would try and ask them to go back to the old set-up instead of trying to find a workaround.

If there is a business reason

If there is a business reason that you need to access those files and this slow you down in your tasks, you can ask them to unlock it. If nothing happen, raise the issue to your supervisor Wink

But use a valid, business reason. You don't want to get into useless trouble.
