I just updated VirtualDub (from 1.8.3 to 1.8.5) no less than a minute ago and I just realized the 'plugins32' folder has been deleted. I hope this is not intentional.
I use the following plugins from http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/~fcchandler/

Shouldn't all plugins go in the plugins directory? (Which exists by default and the installer does preserve.) Or did VirtualDub change this?

I believe the 'plugins' folder is for filter plugins and the 'plugins32' folder is for import plugins.
[Update]
I've moved everything in the plugins32 folder to the 'plugins' folder and everything is being loaded as normal.
The documentation for the import plugins says
.. To use it, create a folder named "Plugins32" in VirtualDub's
program folder, and place the "[filename].vdplugin" file into that folder.
VirtualDub will find and use the plugin automatically.
Hmm...
I just tried v1.8.6 and it seems to do the same thing. I'm not a VirtualDub expert, but when I tried to "burn" an .avi from a DVD VOB file, the program said it had no audio codec to support the file format. VirtualDub says the DVD audio format is AC3, and the AC3 encoder is in the plugins directory, but apparently is not being found there.
The plugins32 directory is preserved on install of 0.8.6 if you're already using it in your current setup. The plugins pack installs to the plugins directory as that's the standard place.
Perhaps 0.8.6 doesn't like em in plugins anymore. Try moving it to plugins32. If it works, I'll update the plugins pack installer.
