unit converter

I am using a program called jconvert from sourceforge which converts different units of measurements, however I cannot make it work through the portable apps menu as I have done with other applications. Is this because it is a .jar file and is there a way to make it work through the menu like other programs or can it be made into a portable app?. Normally all I do is put it into a folder, of the same name, in the PortableApps part of my flash drive but this doesn't work, meaning i have to find it through MyComputer.

I use Converber which is a freeware portable conversion program. It is not OSS so it will not be hosted here, but it works better than most conversion programs that i have tried.
