For those of us with portable hardrives this would be Hugely popullar. Plus with the increasing capacities of USB's it wouldn't be oversized considering the games popularity :o)
In the name of John T Haller have mercy on us poor weary gamers and please port this :o) jk
I think a paffed version of Nexuiz should prove to be a very popular addition to the gaming selection of PA.com and could draw a broader audience. Plus I think the game rocks :o)
Does anyone agree with App Guy's and mine opinion that despite the size this game is worth it in its playability? I don't mean to petition or anything but if people can post whether or not they would use this app if it were paffed despite its size. Also I think it would be good to face off against some other PA users via the multi-player option. Interested. Please let us know.
All they need to make is a launcher. Or one could try thinstalling it I suppose as temporary solution until someone makes a launcher. Considering its open-source the legal issues surrounding thinapp wouldn't apply would they? Could John or someone else with the knowledge in this area please let us know if this would be ok legally and if so would it be OK to post a link on PA.com for people to download it.
Check here for some Game launchers, although a bit outdated by now, it would give a good pointer about making a launcher. I have to admit I don't know how perfect these installers are concerning registry.
Note: Although the sizes of these games are huge comparing to regular PortableApps I do think they deserve a look-at because of the following reasons:
Even now 16GB and 32GB drives are available. And even on smaller ones the games could be used. Agreed the size is big but I can imagine people having a separate USB stick with a few of their favorite (big) games on them.
Portable USB HDD's have much much more space compared to USB Flash drives at this time. Although not everybody has one, I'm sure a lot of people do have one. And on drives with approx 10 times the size of a USB stick space is less of an concern. Also the speed might be more acceptable in some cases. Even a cheap 'small' USB stick can hold one or 2 of these bigger games. Nobody said all portable apps had to reside on one single USB drive, although they can nowadays with the 16GB+ drives. And in the coming years the size will only increase.
PortableApps format is perfect to facilitate the larger applications and games as well. When I hear reviewers say "there's also games" they seem to refer to the few smaller games available which any console kid might compare to some browser games. True the games are nice but the full blown 3D games deserve a spot in the portable universe, even with a file size that is 400MB to 800MB.
Hey man, sorry to hear. I really don't understand why you cannot access the site or even download the individual zip files. I think you said you tried various PC's even. Well I get the feeling it's not my site's fault and its just standard web space, download link to a normal zip file. Are all these PC's on some 'special purpose' network or something? Download restrictions? Firewall preventing download? Tried both FireFox and Internet Explorer? Can you download them from an alternate location like at a friends house or local library? There has to be a reason... Anyone else have this problem?
BTW. although you can't access the download I rather keep the downloads on one place because of possible updates to the launchers.
About the size of the large games, I think there's a little to much bias around small sized thumb drives or people having just one. Nowadays many people pay large amounts on consoles and games and even mobile phone rates that I find it a bit hard to believe that to many people could not have an USB stick large enough for (some of) these games. Prices are falling, sizes are increasing and more and more people will have access to drives that can hold these games. The cheapest drives available nowadays are 1GB or perhaps 2GB and can easily hold at least one of these games (with the PortableApps.com menu). Reminds me of the time I used to carry around several diskettes, one with a game, some with some applications and other with some data.

This game looks so awesome!
I would love to see this portable
Unfortunately, it's 400MB, so it wouldn't be the most portable of games.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Even if you compacted it with the App Compactor.
May the Shwartz be with you
It only saves 4MB.

Oh, thats not much.

Doesn't it mean if the game saves everything to the Data folder that it is portable. I mean it would be pretty big but it would still be portable.

Yeah even with the size it still should be made portable. I would love this game if it were portable.
I am new at this and would love for someone to make it portable and possibly release it.
May the Shwartz be with you

It would be and everyone would love it. I would pafify it myself but it has a lot of registry activity and I am bad at that.

Download linuX-gamers 0.9.3 and write it to a DVD.

Tried your site again I still can't access it :o(:::
Would you be willing to zip some your game launchers up and email them to me so I can upload them to an alternative file host?
Oh and I definitely agree big games should be included. They can only increase the PA's popularity
