opening Firefox using links in Thunderbird

Since upgrading to Portable Firefox 1.5, I have not been able to open links in Firefox by clicking on them in Portable Thunderbird. How do I regain that functionality? Did I have an extension installed that I forgot I was using? Or do I need to do a quick registry hack to fix this problem?

PTB uses default browser

If you manually set PortableFirefox.exe as your default browser, it will work. Or, if your default browser is a local copy of FF and you have PFF open, it will work.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

thanks!

I made portable firefox my default browser when I first started it up. I also tried it again after I realized I had this problem. It didn't work. But I tried it yet again after your post... and surprise surprise... it's now working fine. ???? Don't know why I had the problem or why it fixed it this time... but thanks!

You CAN'T set it inside the browser

That sets the copy of Firefox inside Portable Firefox as the default. You need to do it manually editing the registry or use the default browser tool setting PortableFirefox.exe as the default.

This problem is flakey

So now it's not working again. Don't know why it wasn't, was, wasn't, was etc. So what are the registry hacks needed? Doing a search there are 44 instances of firefox.exe, but there's no "replace" function in regedit and I didn't want to manually change that to PortableFirefox.exe 44 times. Isn't there an easy way to make *portable firefox* the default browser? I assume that I can safely delete all of the firefox reg entries to start fresh, but I haven't done so yet. (Didn't want to try the program in the link above though since it's for XP and I have Win98.

pardonme

Maxthon broswer (it's IE

Maxthon broswer (it's IE shell)
got a feature that the browser "cought" all links opened, and even if it wasn't default browser all links were opened in Maxthon instead of IE (worked only with Maxthon turned on) .. I wonder if that would be possible with FF ... maybe an extra extensions for that

Embrace your dreams

Never able to fix Thunderbird opening links

I was never able to fix the problem I described above. I ended up uninstalling all references to Firefox in the registry and reinstalled normal Firefox 1.5. That didn't fix my problem. I did the same thing with Thunderbird, and that ALSO didn't fix my problem. No matter what I do now, Thunderbird refuses to launch links in Firefox.
