The U3 application was working fine for months, then all of a sudden every time I try to start Thunderbird 2.0.0.16 from ScanDisk I get windows Error Report notification window and thunderbird shuts down. I take the ScanDisk to another computer and it works fine. Tells me that one computer is ok and the other one has a problem. Anyone might know what that problem is and how to fix it?

Are you using Thunderbird for U3 or Thunderbird Portable? The last supported version of Thunderbird for U3 is 1.5.0.42.

No, I am using the one ScanDisk loaded from their Cruzer Control. It worked great for about three weeks then. Died on one computer and works fine on two others. Makes me think it's a computer problem more than a usb drive/program problem.

Ah, that version is completely unsupported (not by us or Mozilla) and, I think, may be done without Mozilla's permission (thus violating their trademarks).
