I noticed these new USB drives on the market and was wondering if any of you knew what they did and how?

Are they actually useful or is it some kind of BS hype? I'm wondering if you could just stick it in and boot an OS of it on any computer you come across. Highly doubtful, but it would be nice.
Can anyone give me the rundown? Thanks...
Most any USB flash drive can be made bootable by formatting it the right way. Just use the HP drive format utility:

Many PCs don't support booting from USB devices. Many public PCs (net cafe, libraries, etc) either disable this feature or don't let you reboot.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
work on *any* flashdrive, or HP only?
specifically (for me) Sandisk titanium
I did it to a random generic drive.

so it's just a gimic then? That's what I figured, the task seems impossible for 100% compatability across PCs and OSs... Still that would be pretty damn cool!
If anyone knows about these FingerGear drives please post...
