I can't get any of these to work with my mom's yahoo account...
I've tried Ypops, I know its doing something, because when I use a wrong password it gives me an error, when I use the correct password, no error.
The webmail extension along with the yahoo extension will say it's downloading messages 1-99, but then it keeps timing out. This is on different computers with all firewalls and other obstructions disabled, any ideas? I'm thinking of just paying the $20 for the year to do it normally.

Just activate the pop3 feature on Yahoo! mail and then configure Portable Thunderbird for Yahoo! Mail on pop3

Use Yahoo! as your permanent email address. Forward to another mail account, or download your Yahoo! messages to your POP3 mail client.
Filters
You might want to use http://webmail.mozdev.org/ instead. Install the main module in Thunderbird, then the Yahoo module. If you have switched Yahoo to the new webmail interface, you will have to keep that in mind when configuring the plug-in. Similar to Ypop, you set the server settings for the actual account in Thunderbird to 127.0.0.1.
Those suggesting the activation of the Yahoo POP server should realize that yahoo.com no longer provides free POP/SMTP access. And yes, local Yahoo versions still offer it.
