corrupted extention - cannot run Firefox or delete folders

Somehow an extension corrupted my Firefox portable. Everything worked great for many months and until this morning. Whenever I started FF-P the splash screen would show and FirefoxPortable.exe & firefox.exe would show up in the Processes tap of the Windows Task Manager. A couple of seconds later both instances of firefox in the Processes tab would disappear. I tried reinstalling FF-P - this dis not fix the problem.

The following two folders are visible, but when I click on them Widows tells me they do not exist. The properties of the FF folder tell me it is 23.7 GB in size. This is impossible on a 4 GB drive. Yet the reported size of each of the following folders is 0kb. I have deleted all other folders.

There are many other files with strange names and the reported size of each is also 0kb. When I try to delete any of them, windows gives me an error message that tells me the files I am trying to delete do not exist.

I also cannot delete the following folder. Window tells me it is not empty. Yet I have my folder options set to display all hidden files and folders and nothing is in them.
