U3 must be preinstalled on the drive for it to be a U3 drive. You can't install it. So, you need to look for the U3 Smart logo on the packaging when you buy a drive if you want a U3 drive.
Many manufacturers release U3 and non-U3 versions of the same drive models.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
