LaTeX -. TexUSB apps

Hi, all LaTeX fans.

I really don't have the technical expertise so maybe someone else can help me.

All the LaTeX assorted apps in the development area has not been tested for a while. Still I need some portable version of LaTeX. What I have found is the following:

http://www.exomatik.net/LaTeX/USBTeXEnglish

But it is still a bit crude. Maybe someone can make it better?

At least, I would be very greatful.

Good luck

I tried some portable Miktex distributions, but I have had difficultities to update MikTex. Now I have learned a little bit programming with NSIS and add a traymenu written in assembler.

  • download (and editors):
  • Here you can download a PortableMikTex-Package
http://rapidshare.com/files/147510009/PortableMikTex.paf.exe.html for testing. Specify only the drive.
  • It's easy to use with Winshell. http://www.winshell.org
[ # Portable WinShell (use WinShell on eg USB flash drive)
HowTo: Just create a directory named 'Settings' in the WinShell.exe directory.]
  • TexnicCenter and Led are not my favourites to build as PortableApp - I look for something which standalone (not in the MikTex- path) and easy to update, ...
  • Texmaker is portable http://www.xm1math.net/texmaker/download.html
links in optionsmenu look like ..\PortableMiKTeX\Appdata\miktex\bin\latex
  • Excuse me, you miss the englisch traymenu http://rapidshare.com/files/147664060/TrayMenue.exe.html
  • known problems:
  • if update stuck, cancel, try it ones more -> problems with download
  • after I launch miktex from PortableAppsMenu and call Yap from the traymenu --- I get a Miktex Problem Report "Cannot find modes.mf." --- I don't know why?
-> execute D:\PortableApps\PortableMiKTeX\PortableMiKTeX.exe from start->run or from it's folder on the stick. (perhaps only on my computer?)

best regards
Diane
