free download manager is the best download manager from the ones i've tried, but really the main reason i use download managers is for speed increase. Most download locations limit the speed at which you can download such as a limit of 100 KB/s when i can download at about 600 KB/s with my bandwidth. what fdm and others do is make multiple connections to the server in order download as fast as your connection allows. if you don't have fast internet you won't notice any faster download speeds.
