Does anyone run this image tool on your thumb drive? It is a tiny but very complete program and I'm looking for something much smaller than GIMP. Are there reasons
why it should be avoided?
Thanks,
Donna

I use both FastStone Image Viewer and Screencapture on my Sandisk 1GB CruzerMicro.
I have not run RegRapper to see if it leaves reg entries, but both of those programs are quite useful. Very lightweight.

Would not tell you if there were any entries, it would simply clean them up after you had used the program. See here for more information.

I'm pretty sure though the site I got it from said it was "portable" and I don't see any entries under Software in the registry.
I don't remember if this app was a "install, then copy the folder, then uninstall" one though.
I'm sure shortly someone who knows what they are talking about will be along to tell us the true story though.
If you download and install Fastone Image Viewer you will find an option in the settings to create a portable version. Click "Settings" and again click "Settings" and look for the "Create Portable" tab. Follow the instructions and thats it!
I use it and it is an exellent portable app.

is this any better than xn view?
I normally use xnview, cause I`m just used to it. They seem to have about the same features, maybe its just my imagination but fasstone seems to be faster, only slightly, though. Faststone lets you add music to a slideshow and has a red-eye removal tool, afaik xn-view does not.
