Video editor

I'd like to see a more expansive video editor here capable of editing by timeline and adding titles and transitions. Something like Windows Movie Maker, Adobe Premier, or iMovie.

Unfortunately...

...Virtual Dub only works well with certain file formats. I would really like to see something that can handle .mp4 videos well.

You can

You can work with mp4 files, but you'll need the Quicktime VirtualDub plugin, which is available here

The duck chasing its tail.

Pshh.. good luck with that.

ultrauber, I've been looking for years. The problem with these video editors is that they are bloated summa %$&^#@$#, are not free, and very pricey.

The free video editors are usually for linux and the ones for Windows, really suck, or are way too complicated to use.

I'd give anything for a Windows Movie Maker that didn't %$#@ bricks and crash when I try doing something advanced. How about an Adobe Premier that didn't cost an arm and a leg and or require a separate hard drive, What if iMovie was for something other than a mac.

$#*& that! It's better to politely wait for video editors to become a trend and perhaps actually be usable for the average schmo for once.

By the way

VirtualDub can handle some plugins (.vdplugin)

Here is a list of the plugins I use

AC3.vdplugin
DShowInputDriver.vdplugin
FLVInputDriver.vdplugin
MPEG2.vdplugin
WMV.vdplugin
Quicktime.vdplugin

I'm pretty sure by searching their names on Google, you'll be able to get them.

VirtualDub Portable Plugins Pack

The AC3, FLIC, MPEG2 and WMV plugins are all GPLed and available as an optional pack from the VirtualDub Portable page now.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Try taking the Linux ones and Recompiling them if your a programmer.

self.path = path if self.path == None else self.path
