When I click on the Get Mail button, Thunderbird checks all the email accounts.
I have a few email accounts that I want to manually check occasionally.
So, I would like to disable those accounts.
I read that I could do this by creating multiple profiles for the regular Thunderbird.
But, I need to keep multiple profile directories for the portable.
Outlook Express has an option to disable checking particular email account.
Can I do the same with portable Thunderbird?
Thanks.
it is possible without creating multiple profiles.
I believe the settings are under extras-accounts-accountname-server settings. There you can specify when it should get the mails.

and then the advanced button, and there is the checkbox for enabling or disabling the acc.

Thank you for your suggestion.
For IMAP account, Advanced options does not have a box to disable server.
For POP3 account, there are three options to save the emails. If I choose to have a separate
account folder, "Include this server getting email" is greyed out. So, I can't disable the server.
If I choose save emails under Global Inbox, then disabling server box is available and works.
But, I want to keep the emails under their respective folder.
Is there any better alternative?
I only use POP3.
Maybe you can ask over at the MozillaZine forums.

OK thanks. I first thought this was a portable issue. It seems this is generic Thunderbird problem.
I will ask there.
Thanks for all the inputs.
