[Question-solved] Cornice phoning home?

Thanks to PortableApps.com, today I discovered a new Application: The Cornice Picture Viewer.

I tried it, like it and wondered if anyone knows why it tries to connect to the internet on startup?

Who Says?

What firewall are you using that says it connects and where does it connect to? Most software firewalls are pretty useless and alarm on loopback connections which are used for settings and such.

I have

the Comodo firewall and it says Cornice tries to 127.0.0.1 over port 19580. I guess its a loopback connection then.

Not The First

It's not the first time. It has the same issue with GnuCash.

Yessir!

Yessir, they do have a PAF file. I beleive John even worked / talked with them on that one. I know this has come up in the past, and I'm not sure why it's not here yet. I believe there'd be some changes that would have to take place with it first before it could become official.

But yeah, it's great that they're providing a .paf, they're one of the few.

yes I have the paf packed

one here on the stick and this is I use when I need something like that.
Looks like it is well done, however I am not sure abt portability, this installs a 3rd party driver first, it deinstalls all clean when closed.
Otherwise works fine without trces on host.
