GIMP logoGIMP Portable 2.4.4 Revision 2 has been released. GIMP Portable is the full-featured GIMP image and photo editor bundled with a launcher as a portable app, so you can edit your photos and images on the go. This new release fixes a bug that prevented users from setting GIMP to a language different from the operating system. For existing 2.4.4 users, there's even a small (160k) upgrade utility so you don't have to download the whole new release. It's packaged in Format so it can easily integrate with the Suite. Best of all, it's open source and completely free.

New in This Release

A bug was fixed in the launcher that prevented users from setting GIMP to a language that was different from the language of the host operating system.

Small Upgrader and Full Installer

In addition to the standard installer which you can use to upgrade any install of GIMP Portable, there is also a small update utility (only 160k) that will upgrade an existing 2.4.4 installation to 2.4.4 Revision 2. The link is just below the download button on the GIMP Portable homepage. Installer / Format

GIMP Portable is packaged in a Installer so it will automatically detect an existing installation when your drive is plugged in. It's packaged in the Format, so it automatically works with the Suite including the Menu and Backup Utility.

GIMP Portable is available for immediate download from the GIMP Portable homepage. Get it today!

Story Topic:

Nice work on the updates, although I'm still curious about Sudoku. Blum

I love GIMP and having it on portable apps is really a great thing.

On the other hand... updating the program also deletes ANY brushes the user might have added. When you have over 50 that were added by yourself, that is quite a blow to the gut...

Should maybe be resolved in the next update?

I wish you'd dropped a note in the forums earlier. It's a 5 second fix I just wrote the code for in the installer that I could have made a part of this release.

No worries. I'll post it as a Rev 3 this weekend with no new announcement (just updating this one). Anyone with Rev 2 doesn't need to upgrade anyway since the only issue is with the installer.
