Mozilla Thunderbird, Portable Edition 3.1 Release Candidate 2 has been released in Dutch, English, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Portugual and Brazil), Russian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Spanish and Spanish (International). It's the latest test release of the upcoming Mozilla Thunderbird 3.1 email client bundled with a PortableApps.com launcher as a portable app, so you can take your email with you. It's also a great way to test out all the new features of version 3.1 without affecting your existing Thunderbird installation. This release updates to Mozilla Thunderbird to 3.1 RC 2. It's packaged in PortableApps.com Format so it can easily integrate with the PortableApps.com Suite. And it's open source and completely free.
What's New in Thunderbird 3.1 RC 2
Thunderbird 3.1 Release Candidate 2 is based on the Gecko 1.9.2 platform to provide improved performance, stability, web compatibility, and code simplification and sustainability.
New features in version 3.1 include: Faster Search Results, Quick Filter Toolbar, New Migration Assistant, Saved Files Manager, Mail Account Setup Wizard and lots more. Improvements to Stability, Memory, and Password Handling have also been made.
New In This Release
The included Thunderbird has been updated to 3.1 RC 2 (release notes). As with other tests, it will install alongside your current Thunderbird Portable installation in a ThunderbirdPortableTest directory by default. It will show as 'Mozilla Thunderbird, Portable Edition (Test)' in the PortableApps.com Menu.
PortableApps.com Installer / PortableApps.com Format
Mozilla Thunderbird, Portable Edition is packaged in a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. It supports upgrades by installing right over an existing copy, preserving all your email and settings. And it's in PortableApps.com Format, so it automatically works with the PortableApps.com Suite including the Menu and Backup Utility.

Incorrect Link
In the "What's New in Thunderbird 3 RC 2" section, the link in "lots more" points to the Thunderbird 3.0 RC 1 page.
Also, shouldn't it read "What's New in Thunderbird 3.1 RC 2", so people browsing the section headings know it's a 3.1 release, and don't think it's a 3.0 release?

Migration Assistent
The Migration Assistent doesn't work if you try to import from a portable version.

I guess thats because it doesn't "know" what a portable version is.
But when is that needed? If you already have a portable version, you can simply install the update right over it.
