Hello John,

Thank you for the update as this is one of my favorite apps. Unfortunately I don't know what I am thanking you for. I thought there was some talk of a changelog/release notes attached to the news feed entries. In my opinion they are too similar to the PA homepages for each app.

I noticed the new splashscreen this time around, but it still doesn't have the new icon and about screen that was posted on the blog. I'm guessing that is because it is not in the non-portable version (I have no idea having only used the portable vers.)

Anyway I'm just putting it out there. You will get no harsh criticism from me. I've got nothing but love for my PAs. Thank you!

Not sure what blog you mean or what you mean about an about screen.

This was strictly an update of the launcher to unicode and the installer to 3.0 so it can properly install via the platform on 2tb+ drives. The help files and splash were updated branding wise as part of that.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Something appears to be unhinged.
When the "WinDirStatPortable.exe" file is executed the splash pops up but the program never runs.
If you go to "..\WinDirStatPortable\App\WinDirStat" the "windirstat.exe" program will run.
Tried a fresh clean install after moving the old version to another location and it still failed.

hi everyone,

Current version I get is 1.1.2.80
When I run the updater it shows 'downloading 1 of 1' since there's only this app. that is not yet up to date. But what is weird is that the updater seems downloading the file (the release) TWICE! I can see on the updater the file size is 937KB, the file is quickly downloaded and as soon as it reaches 100%, it is downloaded again another time (the same file size).
After that this message pops up:
---------------------------
PortableApps.com Updater™
---------------------------
The downloaded copy of WinDirStat Portable is not valid and can not be installed. This could be due to an incomplete download or other network issue. Please try running the updater again when complete.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

I haven't tried to reinstall it, yet.

Edit:
---------
Uninstalling then trying to install the new version didn't solve the problem!!! I really didn't expect that!

Someone reported elsewhere that the MD5 in the database hasn't been updated to match the newest release.

So what is happening is the updater downloads the file, compares the MD5 and doesn't get a match so thinks the file is corrupt. It then tries to download the file again to get a complete version, but once again the MD5 does not match and the update fails.

The only way you will get it to install properly is to either download it manually, or wait until the MD5 has been updated in the database to the proper value.

hi,
thanks for your reply winterblood,

Yes, downloading the app from the site and installing it manually works fine.
But seriously, (for John or other admins) does this little MD5 mistake need all that time to rectify!!

The MD5 is correct, which is why it wasn't reported earlier and only a few people are having issues. I've reuploaded the installer to ensure all mirrors have the full copy. I'd wager one or two mirrors are simply experiencing an issue. Hopefully a reupload will fix it.

hi John, thanks for all your work,

And.. there it is!
When I saw the installer downloading a 938K file I knew it's gonna work (937K earlier)... nevermind, just a notice!

It works now,
thanks winterblood, john, all...
