Texter Portable 0.6 Rev 2 has been released. Texter is an open source text substitution app from the friendly folks at lifehacker. It runs from the windows system tray and automatically substitutes user-defined abbreviations with complete words, phrases or longer text to save you time. This release updates to the latest format. Note that Texter itself is no longer updated. It's packaged in PortableApps.com Format so it can easily integrate with the PortableApps.com Platform. And it's open source and completely free.

Update automatically or install from the portable app store in the PortableApps.com Platform.

Features

ScreenshotUnlike software-specific text replacement features, Texter runs in the Windows system tray and works in any application you're typing in. Texter can also set return-to markers for your cursor and insert clipboard contents into your replacement text, in addition to more advanced keyboard macros. While Texter itself is portable on its own, the Texter Portable package makes it a snap to install and upgrade, especially with the PortableApps.com Platform.

PortableApps.com Installer / PortableApps.com Format

Texter Portable is packaged in a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. It supports upgrades by installing right over an existing copy, preserving all settings. And it's in PortableApps.com Format, so it automatically works with the PortableApps.com Platform including the Menu and Backup Utility.
