logojPortable Launcher 4.0 (formerly Java Portable Launcher) has been released. jPortable Launcher allows you to easily run Java JARs from your device with the jPortable portable Java Runtime Environment installed. While it doesn't portablize their settings directly, it does work with any self-contained JAR that stores settings alongside itself or allows its settings to be saved to a portable location This release has an improved launcher and installer, adds support for the Java Runtime Environment within the newly-released jdkPortable, and adds an OS check to the jPortable Launcher 64-bit variant. It's packaged as a portable app, so you can take your browsing experience with you and it's in Format so it can easily integrate with the Platform. And it's open source and completely free.

Update automatically or install from the portable app store in the Platform.

ScreenshotThe Java Portable Launcher allows you to easily run Java JARs using the Java Virtual Machine installed on your device using jPortable. It can also use the JRE within jdkPortable. It can be installed into the Menu where, when it is run, it will prompt you to select a JAR file to run. It can also be run directly by dragging and dropping a JAR file onto the JavaPortableLauncher.exe file.

jPortable Launcher does not portablize the settings of all your Java programs within JAR files. Some JAR apps will either store their settings alongside the JAR or provide an option to store the settings portably. Other JAR apps will look to the user.home setting and store data there. The launcher configures these to use your portable device for settings storage. Installer / Format

jPortable Launcher is packaged in a Installer so it will automatically detect an existing installation when your drive is plugged in. It supports upgrades by installing right over an existing copy, preserving all settings. And it's in Format, so it automatically works with the Platform including the Menu and Backup Utility.

jPortable Launcher is available for immediate download from the jPortable Launcher homepage and the 64-bit variant is available in the 64-bit section of the same page. Get it today!
