Submitted by depp.jones on September 10, 2019 - 10:36pm

A new version of KiTTY Portable has been released. KiTTY is a fork of the popular PuTTY telnet and SSH client with additional features packaged as a portable app, so you can connect in to your systems on the go. It's packaged in PortableApps.com Format so it can easily integrate with the PortableApps.com Platform. And it's open source and completely free.

Update automatically or install from the portable app store in the PortableApps.com Platform.

Features

ScreenshotKiTTY is a lightweight telnet and SSH client for Windows, along with an xterm terminal emulator. It allows you to securely connect to your systems while on the go. PortableApps.com Installer / PortableApps.com Format

KiTTY Portable is packaged in a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. It supports upgrades by installing right over an existing copy, preserving all settings. And it's in PortableApps.com Format, so it automatically works with the PortableApps.com Platform including the Menu and Backup Utility.

I have tried to run this on several Windows 10 computers, using both upgraded and complete installs. It seems after the splash screen opens, nothing happens. I got it to start once by making an exception under DEP settings on Windows but it started without any of my previous settings.

Event log shows:
Faulting application name: kitty_portable.exe, version: 0.72.0.0, time stamp: 0x5d752237
Faulting module name: kitty_portable.exe, version: 0.72.0.0, time stamp: 0x5d752237
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x000b4940
Faulting process id: 0x1904

*** Upon further investigation, this appears to be an upstream bug. The portable version from the developer website also behaves the same way. If I replace kitty_portable.exe with the previous version (v0.71.0.7) it starts up as expected.

Sorry, I cannot reproduce that. I run it on my Win10 machine without problems. Would you please open a new thread in the support forum with a leading [BUG] in the topic title? Please include more information like 32/64bit Windows version, installation path and what else might help. I'll try to investigate that further.

see John's comment below. I found, you opened an issue on cyd's git already - that's the way to go. Wink

It is an issue with the base app when DEP is enabled. It is not a bug we can fix or should track.
