Dies after splash screen
I have tried to run this on several Windows 10 computers, using both upgraded and complete installs. It seems after the splash screen opens, nothing happens. I got it to start once by making an exception under DEP settings on Windows but it started without any of my previous settings.
Event log shows:

*** Upon further investigation, this appears to be an upstream bug. The portable version from the developer website also behaves the same way. If I replace kitty_portable.exe with the previous version (v0.71.0.7) it starts up as expected.

Sorry, I cannot reproduce that. I run it on my Win10 machine without problems.
Would you please open a new thread in the support forum with a leading [BUG] in the topic title? Please include more information like 32/64bit Windows version, installation path and what else might help. I'll try to investigate that further.-edit-
see John's comment below. I found, you opened an issue on cyd's git already - that's the way to go.
Base App Issue
It is an issue with the base app when DEP is enabled. It is not a bug we can fix or should track.
