firefox won't load

have been running firefox off my usb key for some time now without a problem and today i try to load it up and it won't start. Last night when I started had some extensions that required updating so I thought that may be the problem, so after downloading it again and reinstalling it I tried to run it still with nothing the starting logo comers up and thats all. I looked in the task manager and firefox shows there briefly while the startup screen appears and then thats it anyone got any ideas whats going on.

Problem solved

OK so I've fixed the problem and I'm posting it up here as I believe I've spotted a couple of other posts with similair problems.
1) I downloaded the latest version of portable firefox
2) Moved my portable firefox files from my usb to the desktop (more for my convinience I'm assuming you could leave them on your USB if you wish)
3) reinstalled the latest firefox over the top of my current installed version
4) Ran program for a quick test before moving it back to my USB
still not quite sure what was wrong with it my guess is possibly updates to some of my add-ons that got downloaded last night.

Updates

From my experience updating extensions before starting Firefox can cause FFP to take forever and a day to reload. For whatever reason it has always been better for me to not update the extensions, load FFP, and then update extensions. Restart time is about normal then. Hope this helps.

It will help for future updates, but...

... for now, I've got a problem with Firefox not loading completely, once again, but the problem happens with both the USB key and the backup because, apparently, I'm too proactive with backups and have duplicated whatever the problem is, so the backup version is no help.

Neither is re-downloading and re-installing Firefox Portable. It's now at 2.0.0.9 from SourceForge, and that's the version I've been running because I updated. But I've also updated extensions as they come along, and now the Firefox process runs and runs without loading. What I mean by "re-installing" is copying the fresh download over the current version, keeping my extensions and customizations intact because it took such a long time to set them up.

So that leads me to suspect an extension update, and the one I suspect is GSpace. Unless anyone has a better idea of how to go about this, I'll have to delete my current Firefox folders, including all my extensions and favorites and customizations, and re-do the whole thing.

I'd like to avoid that, naturally! If anyone can suggest how to remove the GSpace extension completely, without disturbing the rest of the Firefox installation, or if anyone might have other suggestions of things to try, I'd be exceptionally grateful!

Cheers!
