Is there a way to copy protect, but still have read access to, multi media files on a USB drive. In other words to view a movie (.avi for example) using VLC but not to be able to copy the movie to the HDD or other devices.

If you have read access to a file it can be copied to other media no matter if you use FAT32 or NTFS.
