Hi all,
I have had portable apps for about a month now and it is AWESOME!!! just something i was wondering... i have a heap of SWF games and stuff which i frequently play... i was wondering if there is a script or a way i can put them into the menu of portable apps so i can easily access them?
Thank you in advance
JGamer
I won't lecture you on portablity of said games- I'm sure someone else can and possobly will.
There is information here: https://portableapps.com/node/8795. That will tell you how to make a swf them standalone.
The other option is to make a folder and put the standalone exe inside of that folder, and then drop the swf's in that folder as well. Then, you start the standalone (which will appear on the menu, provided it is in a folder), click open, browse, and pick the swf you want. Since you said that you have a large number of games, this may be the most space economical.
(As for the registry stuff, it enters things in your registry. I bounce between my home computer and computers with go back installed. Becuase of the go back- no worries.)
What other kinds of games are you intending to put in the menu? So long as it is in folder, it will show up. If their are multiple exe's which appear, make a folder, put the game folder inside of that one, and make a script that will start it, then make it into a exe. I personally utilize AutoHotKey. Some others utilize batch files turned into exe's.
Your milage may vary. Have fun!

Swiff Player by GlobFX Technologies works really well for me, but instead of turning the .swf into an exe, it just plays the swf.
The standalone will just play the swf as well. But whatever (and I don't mean that in a bad way.)

Note also with some you can't make them standalone, as they are protected (Weapons Fire is a really good example). Note that with some, its impossible, AFAIK (meaning Animator vs. Animation). I think that is due to a swf sourcing to another swf.
I hope we answered your question.

swf games are meant to be played in a browser online. Some sites offer downloadable versions of the games but these would be executables.
I have several that are not made to be played in a browser.
If it's SWF it's probably made to be played in a browser!
almost any flash game that you can play on the net cna be downloaded with the firefox extension unplug. They get downloaded as swf files, not exe.
Downloading swf without permission of the copyright holders is most likely not allowed
