Moving Portableapps suite from one card to another?

I did a search first REALLY!

If I want to move the Portable apps suite that I setup already on one card to another card do I just copy the entire contents and it will work or i need to reinstall it all on the new card?

Thank you!

Thank you!

One last thing if possible:

No infomation at all is left on other machines when you use portable apps?

Like if i use Firefox portable at work on my SD card nothing is left on the local machine? Its all on the sd card?

nothing personal

is left if everything works as expected and you close the app propperly and safe-eject the stick.
If the pc crashes while youre using it things wil get messy.

some hints will remain in the registry the prefetch folder and maybe the firewall logs but thats due to windows and we cant do anything about that.

its fine to use on other

its fine to use on other machines. NONE of your personal information will be left behind if you properly exit the apps. All that will show would be traces in prefetch, or Recent Documents list on the PC that you used the PortableApps on.

I think it is safer to say

I think it is safer to say the design goal is that nothing is left behind.

If you find something is left behind, report it as a bug (after searching the forums to make sure no one else has reported it). The developers are pretty careful, but they can miss things.

On the other hand, you don't want to rely on it protecting nuclear secrets or cheating love letters. Some programs do write things on your hard drive, and the data may still be available by special procedures even after the data has been deleted. But the special procedures aren't things that most people know how to use, and they take some time and effort. You could say that the data is not available to honest people or those who have better things to do. Wink

As people keep saying, the programs frequently write temporary files to the faster hard drive, but if you close the program(s) and give things time to exit (and "safely remove hardware") most do clean up after themselves. You never know what's going to happen if you just pull the USB connector out or the power fails or whatever.

I first thought it might be

I first thought it might be a Windows Vista UAC error, but then I remembered that the current PAM keeps things locked when it is running.

Make sure nothing on the drive is being used; exit from everything. See if that doesn't help.

The copy is just a copy. There's nothing magical about it. If there is an error, either there is a problem with the source (e.g. PAM has locked some files while it is running) or the destination (Windows has locked some destination folders to provide additional protection).

Check for errors

Most likely, you have logical errors on the old card or the new one.

Right-Click

Right-click on the drive itself in Explorer, select Properties. Then, in the Properties window, select the Tools tab. In the Error Checking section, click Check Now.

Are you sure you

are using beta4?
Did you have any settings in the ini that you might have to re-add?
